QA-HS-HillyerDr. Richard Hillyer

 Board of Directors

Dr. Richard Hillyer has been part of the QUAD A team for 14 years and serves as the Board Accreditation Committee Chair. He also sits on the Education Committee and the Quality Assurance Committee.

In those roles, he participates in policy development and board oversight of operations, reviewing the results of accreditation surveys for approval. He can also act as a subject matter consultant for designated staff functions.

Dr. Hillyer received his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Connecticut. He gained an MBA and a Master of Science in Management (Healthcare Administration) from Wilmington University. He went on to earn his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Simmons University.

The New Jersey native is a former Army combat medic and instructor at Brooke Army Medical Center in Texas. He is a lifetime member of the American Physical Therapy Association and has held positions in various state Physical Therapy associations in the United States.

His education and medical background have helped him develop a strong philosophy toward patient safety.

“For residents of many communities to access healthcare services, their providers must be Medicare participants, and Quad A accreditation enables that participation,” he said. For others, the safety interest of the patient requires compliant, accredited facilities and board-certified providers. Again, Quad A accreditation recognizes and documents those elements. Our on-site peer review by a professional clinician is a critical step in ensuring that the public receives quality services.”

Dr. Hillyer is married with an adult son and an adult grandson. He is a commercial and instrument pilot and an amateur radio operator.
