International Surgery and Dentistry Standards Updates

As announced on October 18, 2022, QUAD A has published draft standards for its International Surgery & Dentistry accreditation programs, as required by the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua). These standards are in response to a recent audit conducted by ISQua’s External Evaluation Association (IEEA). They are available on the QUAD A website, along with a Standards Change Report.

In addition, QUAD A is refining the annual Self Survey process. Facilities will still be required to conduct and document a Self-Survey during accreditation years two and three; however, this documentation will no longer need to be submitted directly to the QUAD A office.

Each facility must retain the Self-Survey documentation and all related plans of correction for a minimum of three years. This documentation will be reviewed during the next full onsite survey. In lieu of submitting the Self-Survey documentation, facilities must submit an attestation that the Self Survey has been completed and acknowledges the need for the facility to retain all documentation related to the Self Survey.

The implementation date for these new standards is February 1, 2023.
